KUUBE Nano - Smartbench
> Challenge
We received an invitation from Gallai Design to participate in product development project which started in 2017, it gave us the opportunity to design two smart benches.
As a result of the two studios collaborating, the first smart bench that we created is called KUUBE nano, was released to the streets of Budapest in September 2018. Our design task was not just create the technical design that fit into the already given, clean shape, but we brought this high-complexity, multifunctional product concept to manufacturability and execution.
> Outcome
The benches, which also function as outdoor street furniture, used 100% renewable energy batteries, thanks to which various electrical devices can be charged via USB ports and wirelessly.
Smart benches in public spaces not only provide charging facilities but are also capable of collecting and transmitting useful environmental information in addition to free internet connection.
Sensors that measure UV levels, air quality, noise pollution, humidity and air pressure are also included in the product. The placement of smart benches can be an important milestone in the process of bringing the use of renewable energy sources closer and closer to our everyday lives and proves the development and actual raison d'être of technologies using this type of energy.
